What I'm Currently Reading

It's called A Time of Departing... (http://www.lighthousetrails.com/)

If you want to have a different perspective on what's happening in our churches, here it is.  To say it's an eye-opener is understating.  It is like everything that I had a hunch about, or a bad feeling about, or knew what not "rightly diving the Word of God," he has put into words, in a precise language, easy to understand, and backed by right Bible verses.

Two Thumbs Up.

Bug

Came down with something.  Don't know if it's a stomach virus or food poisoning.  I sure feel awful, dizzy, headache, and general achy all over.  No respiratory problems,  though, thanks to the Lord.

I've done a bit of work today, but really, not much.  It's August, I'm in the tropics, but at times I actually feel cold.  I suppose that might be a fever, but then, I'm no medical professional.

I'm wishing for some of Mom's soup today, but she no longer cooks... Well, back to under the covers for me.  you all stay safe and well.  I'm just reading your entries, nothing else.

"BEFORE" Pictures of My Garden

So, this is what's left of my garden, if you want to call it that. Ever since I've been working, and the despots I call "family" don't let me use the large pick (term in English?), my garden has just deteriorated terribly

And this is what I call "jungle grass". I dont' know the correct term for it, unless it's "grievous nuisance." I was pulling some out and now I am itching all over. This grass has tiny hairs, that will stick into you, much like cactus thorns, if you don't know how to pull it out correctly or don't use gloves. I know how to pull it out correctly, so I didn't use gloves. But, I totally forgot myself and one little moment of forgetfulness is costing me now.

The way to get it out is either to wash your arms with warm water, and then use a washcloth gently with the grain of the hair follicles or to put tape or glue, wait for it to thoroughly dry, and then pull them out. Fun fun fun...

You can't tell, but there are Bromelias in bloom in there.

This is what's left of the lemon tree, and another we call "café de la India" which translated would be Indian Coffee. It's not coffee, that I know. Those are ferns down there, which I never planted. I think they are visiting from my neighbor's back yard.

I've nothing to say about the next two pictures...

Lady, as always, hangs around just in case someone wants to pet her. I usually don't because I am The Cook, and I've no penchant for Chile con Carne with dog hairs... (Ugh!)

So, these are the "Before" pictures. I'm hoping that at some time this year, there will be some nice "After" pictures.

Thanks for taking a look.

The Passionate Shepherd to His Love

Today is my 23rd wedding anniversary.  My husband sent me a lovely bouquet of flowers and here is one of them.  I was just remembering this poem, so here it is, in honor of the occasion.

The Passionate Shepherd to His Love
by Christopher Marlowe

Come live with me and be my love,
And we will all the pleasures prove,
That valleys, groves, hills, and fields,
Woods, or steepy mountain yields.

And we will sit upon the rocks,
Seeing the shepherds feed their flocks,
By shallow rivers, to whose falls
Melodious birds sing madrigals.

And I will make thee beds of roses,
And a thousand fragrant posies,
A cap of flowers and a kirtle
Embroider'd all with leaves of myrtle:

A gown made of the finest wool,
Which from our pretty lambs we pull;
Fair lined slippers for the cold,
With buckles of the purest gold:

A belt of straw and ivy buds,
With coral clasps and amber studs;
And if these pleasures may thee move,
Come live with me and be my love.

The shepherd swains shall dance and sing
For thy delight each May morning;
If these delights thy mind may move,
Then live with me and be my love.

A Coqui on My Car

I love coquis. They are tree frogs originally from Puerto Rico. The scientific name is (Eleutherodactylus portorricensis). I know because as a homeschooling mother, I helped two of my children make State notebooks, where they had to find information about Puerto Rico.

So, I'm here, chatting with my twin who just came back from a trip to Cental America and I hear a scream coming from the garage: my dear daughter had just freaked out because she walked right pass a coqui that was on my car. She's afraid of any and all amphibians... hee hee! So, here is the coqui... Hope you like him. It took me about 20 minutes to get this picture.

George Washington Carver

He was a man of God, and he was also a crocheter and a knitter. I rarely do filet crochet, but have done it, so I can appreciate the work that went into this piece. Although, when you come to think of it, if you're having fun, "it ain't work!"

Some years ago I took an online course to learn more about this multi-talented man:

Stuck at Home Instead of in Church

Well, friends, I'm stuck here at home instead of in church right now. I started to get a terrible allergy attack (they mimic ashma attacks) a few minutes before going to the car. Suddenly, I realized it's because my youngest son had put hairspray on and it was killing me.

You know, we were late and I wasn't breathing well, and I just COULDN'T, just COULDN'T tell my son it was because of him. I just couldn't. So, I'm here, reading emails, and am going to listen to a teaching from one of my best friends, Timothy. I'm already listening to the 2nd in the Christocentricity Series. Timothy really really loves the Lord!

I might listen to a teaching from Love Worth Finding, too. Pastor Rogers went to be with the Lord a couple of years back, but I'm blessed to be able to hear recordings of his sermons.

I think that I might do some crocheting later- a hat for a friend who is undergoing chemotherapy. Here's the link of the hat I'd like to make her:

Children's Book

So, I just found a group of stories I wrote for my kids in 2003, called "Charles and Me". I had to smile, because at bedtime my kids, and the youngest is now 15, always wanted a story, either read or made up by me.

I had special stories for them, with characters that were similar to them, and I so enjoyed seeing their faces when they realized the story was about THEM! Their eyes would become so bright and then they'd smile and laugh and say, "Mom! You're telling about US!!!" Of course, I would say, "No, this is about Tommy, Timmy, and Tina, not about you three." I guess the twinkle in my eyes always gave me away. angel

So, when someone from Crochet Partners, Dori Chaconas, I believe her name is, posted her site, which is about writing, I got to wondering if I should publish my stories. Actually, I am wondering if anybody would care to read them at all. whistling I only wrote them for my own children.

I'm writing them out again, correcting a few things, and going email them to one of my web email addys so I don't lose the work.
