I Like Charlie's Soap

I use it for laundry, for pre-washing, if I'm out of dish washing liquid, to clean the bathroom. If it's dirty, I can use Charlie's Soap.

I do wash our pillows, but I'm guilty of washing most laundry in cold water. From now on, the pillows and bed clothes will be washed in hot water and of course, with the Charlie's Soap. For those of us who are sensitive or allergic to corn, this is a blessing. No skin irritation, no itching in my eyes, no nasty fumes or perfumes. It's just laundry soap. It does the job and then some. And that's all I want from it.

I wonder if those in Monsanto eat their own food?  I hate all of this mutant food on the marketplace, and the truth according to some, is that genetically engineered plants don't prosper that much more that original plants.  The loss is really minor, but the cost to our health, now that you cannot put a price on.

I am struggling to be healthy, and they are taking away that capability.

This just in: Congress is assuming control of all your personal economic decisions. Or so says Judge George Steeh, who yesterday became the first man ever to rule on the constitutionality of the new health care law. The suit, brought by our friends at the Thomas More Law Center, argued that it's an abuse of power for Congress to order Americans to buy health insurance. Judge Steeh disagreed, insisting (in his 20-page opinion) that the federal government has a "right" to force citizens to buy products whether they want them or not. Of course, there's nothing in the Constitution to support that argument. Nowhere does it state that citizens can be required by an act of Congress to purchase anything--including insurance policies. But that didn't matter to Judge Steeh, who also struck down a challenge over the financial penalty imposed on people who don't buy insurance. "The minimum coverage provision... is a reasonable means of effectuating Congress's goal," he wrote.
It all boils down to a very complicated debate over the U.S. Commerce Clause and whether it gives the government the power to bar "commercial non-activity." The Obama administration is arguing that inactivity (i.e. not buying insurance) is a form of interstate commerce. Think about that for a second. The government is suggesting that "doing nothing" is something to regulate. How ridiculous is that? To expand its power, Washington is literally making something out of nothing. Thomas More's Rob Muise talked about where this twisted logic could lead. "If Congress has authority to regulate non-activity then it has the ability to regulate anything," he said. "Congress can tell you to exercise three times a week, to take certain vitamins, to refrain from eating certain foods because, at some point, costs are going to be incurred to the health care market. I find that very troubling when we have a federal government that's supposed to be of limited, enumerated powers." Troubling enough, Muise said, that his organization plans to appeal.
Meanwhile, the health care law is already under fire in two other courts. Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is fighting to overturn ObamaCare in Richmond's federal district court while his Florida counterpart, Bill McCollum, is leading 20 other states into a massive court battle in Pensacola. Yesterday's decision won't interfere with either of those challenges. Eventually, the law will make its way to the U.S. Supreme Court. And when it does, let's hope it appeals to the justices' better judgment.

Corn-Free Shortbread Cookies

2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon sea salt (crushed)

Sift together.

2 sticks of saltless butter, room temperature
3/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 cup sugar cane sugar

Heat oven to 350ºF.  Mix together.  Sprinkle some extra sea salt over this mixture to make up for the lack of salt in the butter.  Add the dry ingredients, 1/3 at a time, to the wet ingredients.  Mix together.  Separate dough into small balls and either press with the palm of your hand or make shapes with a cookie cutter.  Put the unused part into the refrigerator while the other cookies are in the oven.  Take out when the edges are golden brown.

Mike Connelly Read the Whole Thing

If you don't read anything else today, read this.
Michael Connelly did read the entire House Bill 3200: The Affordable Health Care Choices Act of 2009.
He states:  Well, I have done it! I have read the entire text of proposed House Bill3200: The Affordable Health Care Choices Act of 2009. I studied it with particular emphasis from my area of expertise, constitutional law. I was, frankly, concerned that parts of the proposed law that were being discussed might be unconstitutional. What I found was far worse than what I had heard or expected.
To begin with, much of what has been said about the law and its implications is in fact true, despite what the Democrats and the media are saying. The law does provide for rationing of health care, particularly where senior citizens and other, classes of citizens are involved, free health care for illegal immigrants, free abortion services, and probably forced participation
in abortions by members of the medical profession.
 
The Bill will also eventually force private insurance companies out of business and put everyone into a government run system. All decisions about personal health care will ultimately be made by federal bureaucrats and most of them will not be health care professionals. Hospital admissions, payments to physicians, and allocations of necessary medical devices will be strictly controlled.
 
However, as scary as all of that is, it just scratches the surface. In fact, I have concluded that this legislation really has no intention of providing affordable health care choices. Instead it is a convenient cover for the most massive transfer of power to the Executive Branch of government that has ever occurred, or even been contemplated.

If this law or a similar one is adopted, major portions of the Constitution of the United States will effectively have been destroyed.
 
The first thing to go will be the masterfully crafted balance of power between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the US Government.  The Congress will be transferring to the Obama Administration authority in a number of different areas over the lives of the American people and the businesses they own. The irony is that the Congress doesn't have any authority to legislate in most of those areas to begin with. I defy anyone to read the text of the U.S. Constitution and find any authority granted to the members of Congress to regulate health care.
 
This legislation also provides for access by the appointees of the Obama administration of all of your personal healthcare information, your personal financial information, and the information of your employer, physician, and  hospital. All of this is a direct violation of the specific provisions of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution protecting against unreasonable searches and seizures.

You can also forget about the right to privacy. That will have been legislated into oblivion regardless of what the 3rd and 4th Amendment mayprovide.  If you decide not to have healthcare insurance or if you have private insurance that is not deemed"acceptable" to the "Health
Choices Administrator" appointed by Obama there will be a tax imposed on you. It is called a "tax" instead of a fine because of the intent to avoid application of the due process clause of the 5th Amendment. However, that doesn't work because since there is nothing in the law that allows you to contest or appeal the imposition of the tax, it is definitely depriving someone of property without the "due process of the law".
 
So, there are three of those pesky amendments that the far left hate so much out of the original ten in the Bill of Rights that are effectively nullified by "Health Care" law.

It doesn't stop there though. The 9th Amendment that provides: "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people;" The 10th Amendment states: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the   Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Under the provisions of this piece of Congressional handiwork neither the people nor the states are going to have any rights or powers at all in many areas that once were theirs to control.
 
I could write many more pages about this legislation, but I think you get the idea. This is not about health care; it is about seizing power and limiting rights.


Article 6 of the Constitution requires the members of both houses of Congress to "be bound by oath or affirmation" to support the Constitution. If I was a member of Congress I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything like it without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or  affirmation. If I voted for it anyway I would hope the American people would hold me accountable.

With the potential of the Massachusetts Senate race ending the super-monopoly that President Obama has enjoyed in the U.S. Senate, the implications are huge for the chamber's health care bill. One of the lesser-mentioned provisions of that bill (H.R. 3590) is the creation of a new bureaucracy designed to micromanage the health care system. Under Sen. Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) legislation, the Independent Medicare Advisory Board would be required to make binding recommendations for cost savings within the Medicare program. It would authorize this new Board to do anything necessary to stop the growth of Medicare spending (translation: health care rationing). The Board would also be empowered to redefine "qualified health plans" and allow the HHS Secretary to force private health plans to adopt these measures as well.

As the House and Senate Democrats workout their difference over their respective healthcare bills in secret, one area where there seems to be agreement is imposing a major tax penalty on married couples. Both the Senate and House have anti-marriage provisions. The Wall Street Journal breaks it down this way: "[F]or an unmarried couple with income of $25,000 each, combined premiums would be capped at $3,076 per year, under the House bill. If the couple gets married, with a combined income of $50,000, their annual premium cap jumps to $5,160--a 'penalty' of $2,084. Those figures were included in a memo prepared by House Republican staff."
Representative Geoff Davis (R-Ky.) is currently circulating a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for his Hill colleagues to sign, explaining to the Speaker that "government policy should not be constructed in such a way that either discourages individuals from marrying or provides an incentive for couples to divorce." The many versions of health care we have seen have been anti-life, anti-freedom, and anti-conscience. Will the final version be anti-marriage as well?

Just Something to Think About the Proposed Healthcare

I've been reading about Healthcare, and it continues to concern me that the government is wanting to push this legislation through too quickly without seriously studying the matter and finding out the consequences of this bill.  It is going to be disastrous for the country, but don't look for it to explode immediately.  This will explode a little later, say 2013 and on.  And, mark my words, Medicare will be used to pay for the Medicaid benefits.  It's like we say here, you're taking away the clothes of one child to put it on another.  It is not good business, and from what I understand, not everybody is going to have coverage ANYWAY.

I pray the Lord will open the eyes of our leaders, give them wisdom, and teach them patience.  We don't need healthcare right now.  We need rational human beings to take over, study the case, look to see what states have already done that ALREADY WORK, like, say, Utah, and then begin to implement this honestly, with the budget we already have.  Why get more into debt to China?

Under Sen. Harry Reid's legislation, states would be required to expand Medicaid eligibility anywhere from 133-150% above the federal poverty limit. The Congressional Budget Office estimates this mandate to the states would drain state coffers by $25 billion. Obviously, this is causing some great concern to state governors from both political parties. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and New York State Governor David Patterson wrote a letter to the two New York Senators fearful that Senator Reid's bill" could add close to $1 billion annually in new State Medicaid costs to New York , with serious implications for already strained State and City budgets." New York State has one of the most liberal Medicaid policies in the United States, and in these tough economic times, they're saving money by rationing care for women in the state seeking cancer screenings. And the Democrats in Congress hope to solve the problem by increasing the burden on all 50 states?
** How secret are the health care negotiations? Even the Left is locked out, according to Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), the second highest Democrat in the Senate. He complained to Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on the Senate floor, saying, "I'm in the dark almost as much as he is, and I'm in the leadership." Going to Find a Doctor

I have to find a good doctor who specializes in allergies.  Something is killing me here and I don't know what it is.  I ate Sara Lee cake and felt that awful burning sensation in my mouth and throat and esophagus, like when I ate strawberries.  I felt even worse when I ate something called Sun Chips.  It's become worse and worse.

My twin sister is allergic to corn, so this has me thing I might be allergic to this, too.  I've been trying to eliminate corn from my diet, but I had no idea it was in so many products.  I'm feeling a little better now that I've taken a lot of the corn and corn products out of my diet.  The worse part is not driking Coca Cola.  Even artificial sweeteners contain corn products. 

Three Sundays ago I went to church and some people prayed for me and since then I haven't had ANY pain in my abdomen.  I've been bending over, too, like I haven't in years, and no pain.  So, my petition to the Lord is, please, another miracle!

Can You Recognize A Stroke?

A Mayo Clinic study shows a majority of stroke patients don’t think they’re having a stroke -- and as a result -- delay seeking treatment until their condition worsens. The findings appear in the current issue of Emergency Medicine Journal at http://emj.bmj.com/.

Researchers studied 400 patients who were diagnosed at Mayo Clinic’s emergency department with either acute ischemic stroke or a transient ischemic attack (TIA), a temporary interruption of blood flow to part of the brain.

Less than half of the patients -- 42 percent -- thought they were having a stroke. In fact, most in the study did not go to the emergency room when symptoms appeared. The median time from onset of symptoms to arrival at the hospital was over three and a half hours. Most said they thought the symptoms would simply go away. The delay in seeking medical help was the same among men and women.

When asked how they knew about stroke symptoms, nearly one-fifth said they thought a stroke always came on gradually. Just over half (51.9 percent) said they thought that seeking medical care immediately was important.

Significance of the findings

“Time is crucial in treating stroke,” says Latha Stead, M.D., emergency medicine specialist and lead author of the study. “Each individual’s medical background differs and affects recovery, but in general the sooner a patient experiencing a stroke reaches emergency care, the more likely the stroke can be limited and the condition managed to prevent further damage and improve recovery.” The researchers say their findings clearly indicate that better public understanding of stroke symptoms will lead to a faster response and better outcomes.

What you should know

Strokes can happen quickly or can occur over several hours, with the condition continually worsening. The thrombus or clot that is causing the stroke can frequently be dissolved or disintegrated so blood can again flow to the brain. In such cases, immediate treatment can mean the difference between a slight injury and a major disability. Interestingly only 20.8 percent of the participants knew about such treatment. By use of stents, medications and other technology, physicians can stop a stroke from spreading and greatly limit damage. Stroke symptoms include:

* Sudden numbness, weakness, or paralysis of your face, arm or leg -- usually on one side of the body

* Sudden difficulty speaking or understanding speech (aphasia)

* Sudden blurred, double or decreased vision

* Sudden dizziness, loss of balance or loss of coordination

* A sudden, severe “bolt out of the blue” headache or an unusual headache, which may be accompanied by a stiff neck, facial pain, pain between your eyes, vomiting or altered consciousness

* Confusion or problems with memory, spatial orientation or perception

In such cases, a stroke gives no warning. But one possible sign of an impending stroke is a TIA. The signs and symptoms of TIA are the same as for a stroke, but they last for a shorter period -- several minutes to a few hours -- and then disappear, without leaving apparent permanent effects. You may have more than one TIA, and the signs and symptoms may be similar or different. A TIA indicates a serious risk that a full-blown stroke may follow.
