Two Thumbs Down for the Golden Compass

There are some things that don't make sense, and this movie seems to be one of them. After reading reviews and one study guide for it, my conclusion is:

For those who argue that I need to see the movie in order to judge it, no, I don't. I have NEVER used drugs. Never smokes marijuana (nor any other thing, for that matter). I don't need to do drugs nor smoke marijuana to know that they are bad for me. And this movie is bad for me. It's been toned down to lure kids, but the other books are even worse.

END OF BOOKS SPOILER. DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW PART OF THE END OF THE TRIO OF BOOKS.

At the end, the character known as God, who throughout the series is NOTHING like the One True God, who is merciful, loving, forgiving and all Powerful, this wimpy thing actually dies at the end. So, hey, if you want to waste your money on something like this dark movie, which doesn't edify, but will slowly erode the moral compass, along with all the other things that are being presented by Hollywood (most, anyway), then go ahead. But, for the price of a movie ticket and some snacks at the movies, you could, instead, help prevent malaria:

I'm Here Today

Today I'm home, not at church. The school upstairs was vandalized two weeks ago and among the things stolen was a water fountain. The water flooded the school and then it seeped downstairs to the main church. My husband told me that the smell of mold was strong and that he was glad I wasn't there last Sunday. I don't dare go until it's all cleaned up. Would you believe it, they also stole ALL of groceries for the children's lunches, too.

Well, today I'm nursing my daughter, who has been ill for a week. Please pray for her healing! Thanks!

Hoy estoy en casa pues no fui a la iglesia. Hace dos semanas unas personas entraron a la escuela de nuestra iglesia y robaron y vandalizaron también. Entre las cosas que robaron, se robaron la fuente de agua, la cual botó agua toda la noche y se inundó la escuela y la iglesia del primer piso. Ahora tiene un fuerte olor a hongo y yo soy TAN alérgica que me hace daño respirarlo, así que aquí estoy en casa.

También estoy cuidando a mi hija, Ambar, quien se enfermó hace una semana por envenenamiento de una comida. Por favor, oren por ella para que Dios la sane. Gracias y que Dios te bendiga.
