Donating a Crochet Square

I made a square yesterday, towards a comfort afghan that a friend in Boston is making for his neighbor.  You can find the pattern here:

very easy to make.  The instructions are clear, although you end up with a square that is rectangular, sort of.  I did the edges in the same color as the center, rather started the rounds with the same color, and added on each side 2 stitches so as to make it more square.  Finally, I ended the last round without any spaces in the corners.  The size of my now square is 12 inches by 12 inches.
