Email Worm Warning

Amigas(os):
Friends:

Hay un "email worm" que está dando las rondas. El asunto puede decir algo parecido a esto:
There's an email worm going around. The subject might say something like this:

Look Who's Deleted You from Their MSN Account

o tal vez
or this:

Look Who's Blocked You from Their MSN Account.

Even if it's from someone you know, DON'T OPEN IT. It will direct you to a hacker's site which will hack into your email account. Other than being an email worm, I don't know what other damage it might do.

Que ¿cómo sé esto? Mi hijo tiene una cuenta de correo electrónico que usa de "basura" para rellenar en formularios en el internet y no dar el que acostumbra usar. De repente hay miembros de la familia recibiendo correos que él NO envió.

How do I know this? My son used a dummy email account to fill out a form on the net and the next thing we know, family members are receiving emails from that account which he does not use.

Some Thoughts...

We tend, many times, to believe what we've been taught, either by our parents or teachrs, or peers, when we're teens. Like that stupid notion that if I shaved that awful little hair off of my chin, that it would grow back blacker and thicker than ever. THAT'S a myth.

I had believed in God when I was a kid, but at some point, I had started to NOT believe in Him. Like, He was the figment of someone's imaginations and stuff like that.

One day I went to a church and realized that I was wrong. They didn't have a religion, they had a RELATION-ship, with Jesus Christ, God's Son. By then I was exploring this God thing, and listening to several sources, including Islam, the Jehovah's Witnesses, etc. Baha'i and Hinduism, and others just didn't seem to make sense to me. I wanted truth, and was searching for the Truth, not just teachings.

I came to the conclusion that God exists. Yes, but did I believe that Jesus Christ was His Son? Hmmm.... Yes, I could believe it. It seemed odd to me to send your own son to die for others, but people do that, don't they? Not intensionally, knowing practically from birth, but yes, you as a policeman or fireman or armed services person know that you might be called to give your life for someone, and you'll do it. It's your job.

So, yes, I could believe that Jesus Christ died in MY place. Yes, I could. When I was a young woman I finally did something about it. I did NOT have an "experience with God" nor did I "ask Him into my heart", nor did I cry at the altar.

I asked for forgiveness, and asked Him to let me be His daughter. And that I would serve Him. And yes, come into my heart, but now I know that it's not really that...

I had believed in God before, but NOW I believed for salvation... It was/is a saving belief, one that changed ME. I've never been the same since.

Then science started to confuse me, because science was telling me that evolution was the cause of everything, and not God. Again, I learned something after investigating the facts. Evolution is faith-based. You have to have a presupposition that out of nothing there was a Big Bang and out of that nothingness came planets and stars and finally, goo. And from that goo, YOU!

I realized that both, Creation and evolution presuppose something. There's no arguing that because we have THE SAME FACTS. What changes is what YOU believe happened first. Think about it.

The more I study evolution, the more confusing it becomes to me, especially since they change their theories when they discover more evidence that doesn't fit in with their first theories.

I read the Word of God. I realize that it doesn't contain all of the answers to the questions I have, but it DOES contain something, how to have Eternal Life. There IS no other name, given to men, in which we can have salvation. Jesus did it on the cross, and "it was finished".

Eventually I'll write out more of my thoughts on this, and you're welcome to comment, if you're polite.

Thanks for reading this!

I Thought I Would NEVER Find This Picture

I made an afghan for one of my sisters... She happens to be one I love dearly, but she doesn't really speak to me. Why, I've never been able to find out. Some people are like that.

One day I decided to make her a Christmas gift, this afghan from a Leisure Arts book. My oldest sister bought the ribbon for me. I've never been sure if she likes it or not, but I'm happy to have a picture of it.

This is very interesting crochet art. Scroll down to read the artist's biography, too.
I like the colors she chooses and that it's 3 D art.

I mean, it's a funny name, but so far, so good. I like the music. I admit, I don't like noisy music, and this suits me. Check out their site:

Ted Kennedy Dumping Fuel? Old Photo, But...

Man, it STILL makes me angry. I'm no tree-hugger, but polluting like this makes me feel angry and frustrated, esp. since it was probably not the first nor the last.

Plagiarism Update

Well, I'm feeling a whole lot better. One of the persons wrote back, apologized, said she didn't know it was wrong, and took the pattern down. I replied, hey, if you just write in that the part that you copied is based on my pattern, I have to problem with that. So, I'm waiting for her reply to that. I didn't think it would come to anything, since what I usually read is that the person doesn't.

I'm glad she wrote back. I feel tons better about the whole thing. And you all, thanks for "listening" to me!

Plagiarism: My Pattern Was Stolen!

I hate to have to write about this. We read about it all the time, but never think that "it could happen to me." What happened?

I wrote my pattern years ago, for the Half Granny Square:

http://www.geocities.com/riverglorious/Patterns/halfgrannysquare.html

This person stole my pattern:

http://anastaciaknits.blogspot.com/2007/06/alpaca-shawl.html

Look at what Copyscape wrote:
This cached page has 79 words matching your text, as highlighted below by Copyscape.

Been copied? Defend your site with aProtected by Copyscape banner.

Visit this page See whois info See text on your page Responding to web plagiarism

And the highlighted words are the word for word stolen part of my pattern, which was practically the gist of it:

Row 1- Chain 3, make 3 double crochet in the ring, chain 2, then four more double crochet. Ch 3 and turn.
Each 3 double crochet group is called a shell.
Row 2- Make 3 double crochet IN BETWEEN the first and second double crochet of the previous row. Skip three double crochet, work in your chain 2 space the following: (Shell, chain 2, Shell), SKIP NEXT 3 double crochet, make 4 double crochet in the space BETWEEN the 3rd AND 4TH double crochet. Chain 3 and turn.

Row 3 - Make 3 double crochets in between each shell, as before, and make 4 double crochets in the last group. Ch 3, and turn.

I like it when people use my patterns, THAT'S what they are there for! That's why I posted them for free on the net, so that they can use them. But to copy and paste instructions, even if you add some of your own, to a pattern and then say you designed it is WRONG!

I already left a comment, but nothing has happened. I think the blog was perhaps abandoned? There's another lady who also stole from me, PART of one of my bun holder/cover patterns. I wrote to her 3 times already and nothing. I'm waiting until Thursday and then I will write to her blog provider and see if they will take that post down.

Even if you change the written out instructions to abbreviations, it is STILL COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT. In other words, you stole it.

Here's my proof, directly from my filemanager page:

Here's a copy of the letter I wrote to the second person:

Dear Susan: I have been monitoring my site (http://www.geocities.com/riverglorious/) for plagiarism of my patterns, and copyscape found this: http://www.copyscape.com/view.php?o=28294&u=http%3A%2F%2FI TOOK OUT THE URL OUT FOR NOW &t=1204952630&s=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.geocities.com%2Friverglorious%2FPatterns%2Fpompbun.html&w=28&c= In case you cannot go to the link because it's too long, CLICK HERE. Copyscape detected that the highlighted parts of one of your patterns, the Sunflower Bun Cover, is partially based on one of my patterns. I'm writing because, as you can see, your pattern is based on mine: http://www.geocities.com/riverglorious/Patterns/pompbun.html I don't mind people being inspired by my patterns, but to outright copy my instructions is not acceptable. I'm asking you to modify your pattern by stating that the cluster section is based on my pattern, which, you will see is practically word-for-word what I wrote back in 2002. I already made a copy of your page, which will automatically have the creation date of the file, and am prepared to send it to google.com for verification. My page I have left intact for date of creation verification. I have worked hard to write down simple patterns, in plain English, for beginners, and am not willing that people will take that work and claim as their own. Please modify your copyright on the pattern. You yourself wrote in your post: You may use this pattern for your own personal use only. You may not claim it as your own or post it on your website or blog. You may not sell this pattern or include it in any form for personal gain. You may post a link to download a copy of the pattern on your blog or website. The link is http://www.I TOOK THE ID OUT HERE FOR NOW.blogspot.com/. You may use the pattern to make items for your own personal use or as gifts, but items made using this pattern may not be sold. Thank you!

Be advised that I am monitoring all of my patterns, so any similarity, even if changed to abbreviations of my patterns, will be reported to the proper authorities. I'm sorry to have to write this, because you seem to be a nice person, and you yourself use copyscape, too. Mrs. Rivera NOW, here's the second letter I wrote to her:

Note: forwarded message attached.

I wrote to you last weekend about you having used part
of my pattern to make your sunflower bun. I have not
heard from you. If I do not hear from you in 3 days,
I will have to take further steps to ensure that you
do not use my copyrighted instructions and claim them
as your own.

Please write within the next 3 days. I'm sure we can
come to an agreement. This is the pattern you based
your cluster round on:

http://www.geocities.com/riverglorious/Patterns/pompbun.html

Copyscape indicated that you copied the cluster round
practically word for word. Remember that even using
abbreviations is still infringement.

I'm hoping to get an answer from her soon. You can see that the picture of the bun holder was upload in September 29, 2002! Like I said, I hate, absolutely HATE doing this, but it's wrong to steal, and taking a pattern, even part of one, and claiming it as your own, is wrong.

Thanks for reading this!

UPDATE April 8, 2008
To let you all know that the second person took down her pattern. She didn't know she was doing anything wrong, and you know what? I believe her! I told her that I don't mind her using part of my pattern for hers, as long as she acknowledges the part she used from mine. It's really a pretty pattern and I'm going to ask her to put it back up and share it. She's a very nice lady and I admire her for doing what's correct and right. Thanks for reading this!

Crochet Wishes

This is what I would like to make for myself... this cardigan! Here's the URL, and let me warn you, it's in UK (United Kingdom terms) so make the substitutions before you start. I don't have any yarn like this, so I'm looking for a good substitution that I can find here in Puerto Rico.

UPDATE:

Sorry there, I forgot to include the link:

How to Restore or Repair the Foundation Chain When Unraveled

Some people unravel the foundation chain of their
piece by mistake, and think that they have to unravel
the WHOLE thing. Well, you don't. This can be
repaired.

Take a yarn needle, or large tapestry needle, thread
it with the end(tail)of your piece and just start
going through the end loops of your stitches.

Make sure that your needle has grabbed or gone through
the two bottom legs of your first unraveled stitch,
from RIGHT to left,

then grab the LAST LOOP of your
previous untouched chain stitch.

It's not as hard as it sounds. Very carefully, WITHOUT
unraveling the good part of your foundation chain,
just loosen it up a little bit. Just a tiny bit, and
you'll see what I mean. Thread your yarn, go through
those two loops of your double crochet (if that's what
you used), then grab the last part of the chain that
wasn't unraveled.

Then go and grab the next two loops of the next
stitch, from right to left, come
around and go through
the chain stitch you just made.

You'll see your chain
foundation forming again.

And, when you finish, just pull gently on it,

so that it stays put and use the yarn needle and your
hands to pull on any large stitch that may have
formed. When you make the edging, it won't show.

Here all ALL of the photos my son took:

and I'm taking you
step-by-step through the process. You don't have to
unravel everything back to the beginning.
Just repair it!
